Sentia Arena

Sentia Arena Card Game

Sentia Arena had a successful Kickstarter as of Feb 1, 2014! Great job!

Sentia Arena is a pick up and play card game in the same vein as trading card games(TCGs). Except, rather than spending hundreds of dollars to collect thousands of cards to build your perfect deck, you spend $35 to get four balanced decks that can be expanded with more classes, or with Sentia Arena: Monsters to allow multiple players to team up against a big boss monster.

The complete rules can be downloaded here.

Want to try out Sentia Arena? It’s available on Steam’s Workshop if you have the game Tabletop Simulator by Berserk Games. Or we have our print-and-play Open Play documents here for the base game, or here for Sentia Arena: Monsters.

Inspiration:

While I love TCGs, I was quickly frustrated by the “more money is more power” philosophy that most devolve into. The purpose behind these systems is to sell booster packs, so cards are usually imbalanced as a way to encourage buying many packs to get that one rare or powerful card.

So I came up with the idea of Sentia Arena: you buy a single box with four decks in it. All four decks are standard and well-balanced, but you still can choose a specialty so your class plays a bit differently each time. Each class has unique mechanics, and while they each have strengths and weaknesses, you can expect to win as much as you lose– not counting skill. I want it to be easy to teach to new players, but still give plenty of depth for old players. Many new players look at the depth and complexity of a TCG and pull away. This is a game I’ve tested on family who have little experience in TCGs, and they quickly pick up the rules within minutes. And friends who have played TCGs for years end up playing for many hours, enjoying the close battles.

What is the Game?

With a single $35 Sentia Arena, you would have four classes that can duel each other with one of three specialties. We have spent over two years playtesting this system, so you can expect each class to be well balanced and have plenty of replay value. We are already testing additional classes to be released later.

Want to try out the base game? We have a downloadable PDF trial. We are planning to uploaded a trial version to Tabletop Simulator’s Steam Workshop.

In addition to the base game, there is Sentia Arena: Monsters which includes 138 cards. There are 6 total Boss monsters, each who play differently. It’ll take teamwork to take down one of these powerful creatures. This pack combined with the base game allows for a completely different way to play while using the same packs you already have.
